The real problem

You don't have a drinking problem. You have a 4pm problem.

Somewhere around mid afternoon, your brain starts asking for a break. Work is heavy. The day has drained you. A drink feels like the fastest way to feel normal again.

That is not weakness. It is a habit loop, and habit loops can be changed. You do not need a diagnosis. You do not need to call yourself anything. You just need a better way to get from 4pm to bedtime.

The first drink is not the problem. The gap it fills is the problem. Fix the gap and the pull to drink loses its grip.

ADHD and alcohol

ADHD brain or not, the method works the same way.

Alcohol gives the brain an easy hit of dopamine. If you have ADHD, that hit can feel harder to turn down, because your brain runs short on dopamine already. If you do not have ADHD, the same 4pm gap is still there. The method closes that gap either way. No diagnosis needed to belong here.

The method

The 4PM Reset Method

Three moves, in order, that we work through together over six weeks.

One

Disrupt

Spot the exact moment the urge shows up and break the pattern before it runs on autopilot.

Two

Rewire

Close the dopamine gap with something that actually gives your brain what it was chasing.

Three

Repeat

Turn one good evening into a habit that holds on the hard days, not just the easy ones.

Inside the cohort

Six weeks. Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

A working week by week plan, built around the method above.

Week One

Find your pattern

Map when, why, and how much you actually drink, without judgement, so we know exactly what we are working with.

Week Two

Disrupt the 4pm trigger

Install a simple move that breaks the habit loop at the exact moment it starts.

Week Three

Close the dopamine gap

Replace what the drink was really giving you, so the urge has less to hold onto.

Week Four

Build the new evening

Design a wind down that feels good on its own terms, not like a consolation prize.

Week Five

Handle the hard days

Plan for parties, stress, travel, and the days your old habit will try hardest to come back.

Week Six

Make it stick

Lock in the routine and leave with a plan for the next ninety days, not just the next six weeks.

Live calls

One 90 minute group call each week, just five of you and Matt.

Daily check ins

A short daily prompt to keep the plan front of mind, every day of the six weeks.

Direct access

Message Matt between calls when you need to talk something through.

Your playbook

A written plan you keep for good, built for your life and your evenings.

Is this for you

Built for midlife. Built for real life.

This is for you if

  • You are 40 to 60 and the evening drink has quietly become the default
  • You want a plan, not a label or a twelve step programme
  • You do better with a small group holding you to it
  • You are a man or a woman ready to actually do the work
  • You have ADHD, think you might, or neither. This works either way

This is not for you if

  • You need medical support to stop drinking safely
  • You want a course you can leave unopened
  • You are not ready to show up for six weeks
What it feels like

From people who have done the six weeks.

I stopped waiting for 4pm to feel okay. That is the whole thing. Six weeks and my evenings are actually mine again.

Glen, 54

No one called me an alcoholic. No one asked me to stand up and say anything. We just fixed the habit, one week at a time.

Jez, 49

Your guide

A peer, not a clinician.

I am not a doctor and I am not in recovery from rock bottom. I am someone who used to need a drink to switch off at 4pm, and built a way out of it in midlife, on my own terms.

I coach men and women through the same six weeks I built for myself. No AA. No labels. No B.S. Just the method, a small group, and someone who has actually done it.

Join the cohort

Five people. One cohort. Six weeks to your evenings back.

Kept deliberately small so every person in the room gets seen. Once five spots are filled, the cohort closes.

Questions

Before you save your seat.

Do I have to call myself an alcoholic?+

No. There are no labels here and no meetings where you stand up and say anything. We treat this as a habit to change, not an identity to take on.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis for this to work?+

No. The method targets the same dopamine gap in every brain. If you have ADHD, that gap tends to feel bigger, so many people notice results fast. If you do not, the method still works the same way.

Is this only for men?+

No. The cohort is open to midlife men and women. Every call, prompt, and plan works for both.

What if I miss a live call?+

Each call is recorded, and with only five people in the group, catching up is easy. You will not fall behind.

What if I slip up during the six weeks?+

Expect it and plan for it. A slip is data, not a reason to quit. We build your plan to handle real weeks, not perfect ones.

Why only five people?+

So every person gets real time and real attention on the calls. This is a small room on purpose, not a course with your name on a list.

Your seat is one of five.
